Transporterhaus Drop Spindle Fitting Instructions

NOTE:  These are intended as a guide to fitting Transporterhaus drop spindles on a Bay Window bus. If you feel this is beyond you get a specialist to do the work or we can fit them for you here in Perranporth.

Pictures shown are of 1971-1972 bus.1968-1970 and 1973-1979 are slightly different but the procedure is the same.

ALWAYS USE AXLE STANDS FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY

Transporterhaus accepts no responsibility for any crushed bodies, skinned knuckles or botched installs.  We hope you find this quick procedure useful but be aware you are doing this at your own risk.  Remember this is only a quick guide and you do need a little mechanical experience and some tools!

Other parts you will require for the install:

1 adjustable track rod.

2 Eccentric nuts (You already have these on your top ball joints - They can be stuck solid.  Try cutting the ball joint shaft and hitting them with a hammer if they do not easily come off)

After you have fitted the new track rods check your tracking!

1) Jack the front of the bus up and place on axle stands.   Remove wheel.

2) Remove Track Rod.  This fixed track rod is junked and replaced by your new adjustable track rod.

9) Insert new trailing arms.  Note the ball joints now face up.

10) Put your concentric nut on the bottom trailing arm ball joint.

11) Put spindle on the lower ball joint first, then using a small jack raise the arm to allow the top ball joint to go in.  NOTE:  Use the thinner gold coloured washer on the bottom ball joint and the silver washer on the top.
